European Research Clean Sky
The Sandit Project is part of the overall Clean Sky Programme , which is a major technological research programme developing innovative cutting-edge technology aimed at reducing CO2, gas emissions and noise levels produced by aircraft. The task was to design and produce a heated air intake duct for new generation aircraft heating.
The Challenges
- Design the patterns and tooling.
- Lead on the structural enhancements for the installations.
- Designing process and assembly requirements.
- Manufacturing the component assembly.
The Outcome
- Multi piece heated air intake duct.
- Passed all preflight structural loading testing.
- Epm first structural flying parts and assembly.
On completion of the project, all partners were issued with ‘Innovation takes off’ project book which give a brief history of the assignment as well as the overall outcome.
